As a result of this Firm’s extensive experience in Public Law/Water and Public Utility Law, we have expanded our practice areas to include representation of rural municipal entities.

With the ever increasing scale of activities concerning the Eagle Ford Shale drilling industry in the South Texas region, the Firm has been sought by many clients to provide legal advice involving oil and gas leases and negotiations, title research, easements, sales agreements and related matters. Recently, the influx of new oil and gas companies into the area with a specific interest in oil and gas formations below the Eagle Ford Shale has instituted a new round of leasing, and our Firm has proudly been at the forefront of contract negotiations and lease reviews for both new and "top" leases. Litigating disputes all the way to trial and judgment involves an immense amount of risk for each party. Who will the jury believe? Will a trial on the merits result in a winner-take-all and loser-take-nothing result? What if the other party files an appeal? No other process in civil litigation has had better success at controlling these risks than the process of mediation. Mediation can take many forms, but most often it works like an informal settlement conference where each party states its case and settlement positions to a neutral third-party, called a Mediator. The Mediator helps each party see the strengths and weaknesses in their case and seeks to facilitate a binding settlement agreement between the parties.
